Music Based on Region

Music is something that has endless amounts of variety and is defined by a series of sounds that when put together, can form a melody. As a result, music can be different, and music tastes can be related to personality traits and interests. Different regions of the United States as well as the world tend to have certain music types that thrive more than others.

These trends are fairly predictable. For example the states in the US that are furthest south or closest to the border such as Texas and Florida have the most amount of Latin music played. Also, country tends to be a predictable music genre. States like Tennessee and others that are known for farming and such have the highest amount of country music played. California is without a doubt the most significant place for rap/hip hop and pop music, as man rappers and modern musicians move there.

Genres such as pop and rap/hip hop have been growing rapidly in the teenage community, as young rappers begin to produce and release their music using platforms like SoundCloud. If I had to guess, I would say we will see many of these states change to favor rap/hip hop and pop within the next year or two.

It is interesting how lifestyles and hobbies can influence the music you listen to. For example, an overwhelming amount of the population of farmers listens to, you could probably guess, county music. This occurs because different artists create their music for a certain audience. County singers like Blake Shelton wouldn't try to appeal to the rap audience because that wouldn't be beneficial for them. If they sing about things that their audience can at least somewhat relate to, they will statistically have more success.

Another fascinating aspect of the music world is the ridiculous amount of money some of these artists are bringing in. For example Justin Bieber, an American pop and R&B singer is worth $265 million and earns about $80 million annually. That is a ludicrous amount of money for someone who is only 26 years old.

In conclusion, music is a fluid concept that is different for everyone. This leads many different people to enjoy and listen to many different types of music, often times based on their interests. Location and what region you live in can sometimes determine what music you listen to. You can often predict music preferences based on interests and occupations.
