What Characterizes Music Artists?

There are many different things that one can associate you with if your are a part of a certain community. This is because of the lifestyle and culture behind each type of music.

I think it's interesting how vastly different each type of music is just in the values of its audiences. For example, a very stereotypical example would be the relationship between country music with girls, booze, and trucks. Some of these practices, unfortunately, can be very unhealthy. For example, a main focus of many rap songs has been and will continue to be drugs and alcohol. Rap songs often include references to hard drugs such as Percocets and Xanax.

Not all of these activities and values, however are bad. Each genre of music seems to have its own version of love songs, removing the focus from unhealthy and illegal practices. There is a considerable amount more deaths due to narcotics and/or shootings as a result of many rappers' lifestyles.

Switching gears, not only do artists of different genres seem to gravitate to certain activities, they also tend to live in the same areas as well. This is partly a result of the support they can receive at each location. For example, many country singers live in Nashville, Tennessee because of its popularity and it is debatable the heart of county music. Hip hop and rap artists on the other hand, tend to live in Los Angeles or Miami, warm places near a coast.

Assets are also something that are very important to many music artists. This is another area that I think is super interesting. The rapping community seems to value jewelry, clothes/shoes, cars, and houses. Specifically the VVS type of diamond is highly valued and is mentioned in many songs.

Assets that the country music crowd values includes some of the same things, except with a different style. For example, you will often hear references to trucks in country songs as well as the clothes they wear.

Instruments also play a large roll in the type of music created by each type of artist. Rappers rarely use their voices as instruments in their songs. Rappers' voices are often time purely the vehicle for lyrics in the song. The melodious notes are often created digitally by computers, or sometimes by a piano. As a result, the rapping community is debatably the easiest to succeed in because you really just need lyrics and a producer.

Country, R&B, and other genres, however, are different. Country for example often includes notes from a guitar or other physical instruments. The contrast in each style of music and the way that it is produced is quite fascinating.
